A Year with Jesus—Day 22—The Gifts God Gives

A Year with Jesus—Day 22—The Gifts God Gives

So I bought a pair of shoes online a while back, but they were a brand I had never worn before.  (Can you see where this is going?…)   They were on super clearance and I’d been looking for some time for a pair of shoes just like this.

They don’t fit me.   They are too big.   But they look great.   What to do?

Sometimes things in life “don’t fit”.  But they look good, or we think we need to keep doing it because we’re needed.   That’s why today’s reading was a breath of fresh air.  “We do not have to shoehorn ourselves into a ministry role for which we are not meant.”

Is there some area of your life that you are trying to fit into and just isn’t working?   What if Jesus was freeing you from that duty or obligation?   What would you do if you knew you couldn’t be stopped?  As we read today, “We do not need to cast about for a purpose in life.   It is given to us as a gift!”

Lord, thank you for the freedom I have to donate these pair of shoes that don’t fit me anymore.  Help others to live into the gift of freedom you want to give to us!   In Jesus’ name, Amen.
